We are looking for a highly motivated, hands-on leader to join the management team. Mainly responsible for rebuilding and leading all clients' operations in Tanzania, with a focus on disciplined execution, compliance, commercial performance, and operational control. This role ensures alignment with the Client’s global strategy while delivering strong in-market results through robust governance, margin-focused commercial support, and efficient supply chain operations.


The role is supported by regional shared services functions (Finance, HR, Regulatory and others). The Country Manager will work closely with these teams to ensure effective execution, while maintaining full accountability for country-level operations, compliance, and performance.

Responsibilities

1. Country Leadership & Operations

• Rebuild and stabilize  Tanzania operation, including internal processes, distributor relationships, and operational infrastructure.

• Own the country P&L and deliver against revenue, gross margin, and cost efficiency targets.

• Implement and enforce SOPs and internal controls across inventory, procurement, stock issuance, and customer engagement.

• Ensure assets (e.g. inventory, receivables, systems access) are safeguarded and aligned with policy.

• Establish clear operational policies and priorities in collaboration with regional shared services.


2. Commercial Management & Collaboration

• Take full ownership of country-level commercial discipline, including pricing integrity, responsible discounting, and contribution to gross margin.

• Support the East Africa Commercial Manager in executing the commercial plan, including distributor performance, product launches, and pricing strategies.

• Drive local market intelligence, competitor tracking, and customer insight reporting to inform decision-making.

• Monitor product availability and contribute to demand forecasting and supply planning processes.


3. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

• Ensure full compliance with Tanzanian veterinary and pharmaceutical regulations (TMDA, PPB, etc.) and global quality and compliance standards.

• Oversee product registration, pharmacovigilance, and quality incident reporting in coordination with the Regulatory Affairs team.

• Maintain productive relationships with regulatory authorities, veterinary bodies, and industry associations.


4. Governance, Risk & Internal Controls

• Ensure full adherence to global governance standards, internal controls, and policies relating to anti-fraud, authorization, purchasing, and stock handling.

• Monitor and report on operational and regulatory risks. Lead timely implementation of corrective actions and audit closure.

• Champion a culture of accountability, ethical conduct, and policy compliance across the team and distributor base.


5. People Leadership & Culture

• Lead, develop, and coach a small in-country team, instilling a culture of high performance, transparency, and collaboration.

• Drive employee engagement, talent development, and succession planning to support sustainable growth.

• Ensure team members adhere to compliance, safety, and ethical standards in all activities.


6. Stakeholder Engagement

• Represent with external stakeholders, including distributors, veterinary professionals, industry associations, and government entities.

• Serve as the face of in Tanzania, actively restoring and building trust with customers, partners, and the veterinary community.


7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Liaise closely with regional shared services (Finance, HR, Regulatory, QA, Supply Chain) to ensure alignment, execution, and compliance.

• Support the successful roll-out of regional initiatives, systems, and reporting standards at country level.

Requirements

Education:

• Degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Health, Pharmacy, Business, or a related discipline.

• Postgraduate qualification (e.g. MBA) preferred.


Experience:

• 7–10+ years of experience in veterinary pharmaceuticals, animal health, or similar sectors.

• Proven success in operational turnaround, market rebuilding, or country leadership.

• Experience working with East African distributor-led models.

• Strong understanding of regulatory processes and compliance in the Tanzanian context.

• Familiarity with audit, internal control, and governance frameworks.
