To lead and oversee the bank’s credit operations and administration function by ensuring efficient credit processing, accurate documentation, sound collateral governance, robust credit quality assurance, and full compliance with regulatory and IFRS9 reporting requirements. The role safeguards operational integrity, minimizes credit operational risks, and supports sustainable loan growth and portfolio quality.

Responsibilities

Credit Operations Management

  • Oversee the end-to-end credit operations process from approval to booking and disbursement.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of loan documentation and system booking.
  • Manage process improvements to enhance turnaround time (TAT) across all lending segments.
  • Approve disbursements within delegated authority and ensure fulfillment of all condition’s precedent.


Credit Documentation & Legal Administration

  • Oversee preparation, validation, and execution of all credit and security documentation.
  • Ensure documentation completeness, accuracy, and alignment with approval terms and legal requirements.
  • Coordinate with Legal Counsel, Registries, and external partners for collateral perfection (charges, mortgages, debentures, etc.).

Maintain robust documentation and collateral management systems.

 

Regulatory Reporting & IFRS 9 Oversight

  • Supervise preparation of regulatory credit reports for BOT, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Oversee IFRS 9 computations, staging, impairment assessments, provisioning accuracy, and ECL modeling governance.
  • Coordinate with Risk, Finance, and IT to ensure data quality and model integrity.


Credit Quality Assurance

  • Lead periodic file reviews to ensure compliance with credit policies, approval conditions, and documentation standards.
  • Identify operational gaps, process weaknesses, and non-compliance risks—ensuring timely remediation.
  • Oversee pre-disbursement checks and post-disbursement reviews to mitigate operational credit risk.
  • Track exceptions and ensure closure of credit operational audit issues.


Collateral Management

  • Ensure all collateral is properly perfected, insured, valued, and registered as required.
  • Monitor expiries of insurance, valuations, leases, and other collateral documentation.
  • Maintain high data integrity in the collateral register and core banking systems.


Compliance, Controls, and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with BOT guidelines, IFRS9 standards, internal credit policies, and operational procedures.
  • Chair or support Credit Operations-related committees and working groups.
  • Support internal and external audits and promptly address audit recommendations.


Leadership & Staff Management

  • Lead, mentor, and appraise the Credit Operations & Administration team.
  • Build technical capacity in regulatory reporting, IFRS 9, legal documentation, and quality assurance.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, discipline, ethical conduct, and operational excellence.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or related field. Minimum 5 years experience in credit administration, credit operations, regulatory credit reporting, or IFRS 9-related roles.
  • Experience supervising technical teams (IFRS9, legal documentation, quality assurance).
  • Professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, CRM, Credit Management Certification) are an added advantage. Strong understanding of lending processes, collateral laws, IFRS 9 impairment rules, and BOT regulatory requirements.
