Descriptions

We are looking for a driven, entrepreneurial, and mission-aligned Fundraising and Partnership Officer to support the company's revenue generation, grant acquisition, and stakeholder engagement efforts. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of fundraising, strategic communications, and ecosystem development, ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships, crafting compelling narratives, and driving results.

Responsibilities

1. Lead Generation

  • Research and map new grant and funding opportunities from foundations, bilateral donors, impact investors, and high-net-worth individuals aligned with the company's mission.
  • Maintain and continuously update a qualified pipeline of funding leads across philanthropy and earned revenue streams.
  • Identify 'warm leads' and initiate first-contact outreach to foundations and donor organisations, qualifying prospects before senior engagement.
  • Track all applications, deadlines, responses, reporting requirements, and follow-ups using the company's CRM and tracking tools.
  • Proactively brief the Fundraising and Partnership Director on cultivation priorities and upcoming solicitation opportunities.
  • Drive innovation in fundraising; testing new channels, campaigns, and approaches to diversify and strengthen income.

2. Grant Writing & Proposal Development.

  • Lead the end-to-end grant writing process: research, concept note development, full proposal writing, and budget design, and submission.
  • Write compelling, evidence-based grant proposals and concept notes tailored to each funder's priorities and language.
  • Design programme budgets and adapt financials for each grant proposal in collaboration with the Head of Programs and the Finance Manager.
  • Maintain a high-quality, up-to-date repository of institutional text, results data, and programme narratives for rapid proposal deployment.
  • Liaise with the Head of Programs and M&E teams to ensure proposals reflect current programme data and impact evidence.
  • Manage the full grant compliance cycle; delivering on-time, high-quality narrative and financial reports for all active grants.

3. Ecosystem Engagement & Donor Communications

  • Actively engage with Tanzania's entrepreneurship, development finance, and social enterprise ecosystem to strengthen the company's visibility and partnerships.
  • Represent the company at relevant forums, donor convenings, and networking events — building relationships that generate leads and collaboration opportunities.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective donors, foundations, and institutional partners in partnership with the Director of Fundraising and Partnership.
  • Identify, research, and solicit new institutional contracts and fee-for-service consultancy opportunities in line with the company's strategy.
  • Working closely with the Fundraising and Partnership Director to prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly fundraising meeting agendas, discussions, and drive follow-up actions.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Project Management, Resource Mobilization, Communications, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in fundraising, grants management, and/or donor engagement; preferably in an NGO or social enterprise context.
  • Proven track record of successfully writing and winning grant proposals from international foundations, bilateral donors, or development agencies.
  • Strong research skills; ability to identify, qualify, and prioritise funding leads from diverse sources.
  • Experience building and managing relationships with institutional donors, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Proficiency in Swahili and English (written and spoken).
  • Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple proposals, deadlines, and stakeholder relationships simultaneously.

  • Business research skills
  • Proactive and reliable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
