Through accessible, high-quality, community-based education and leadership development, Orkeeswa cultivates thoughtful decision-makers and creative problem-solvers prepared to achieve their own vision for impact. Orkeeswa’s Outreach Program partners with the government to utilize trained and motivated Orkeeswa student and alumni leaders to run holistic programming in rural government primary schools in Monduli district.


Objective

To collaborate with the Program Director and Program Coordinator to implement Sports programs, Extra-curricular activities, Life Skills Education and Academic Support(TARL) in partner schools.

⦁ Create supportive learning environment for student-mentors to develop leadership skills

⦁ Maintain positive relationship with the leadership of partner primary schools

⦁ To foster psychological safety among the primary school students through Positive Discipline

⦁ To lead Orkeeswa student- mentors in their day to day program implementation in partner schools.

⦁ Ensure compliance with Orkeeswa expectations for the Outreach Program

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities & tasks Administratives:

⦁ Report day to day programs activities such as changes of schedules and structured programs in a timetable

⦁ Coordinates the programs data entry such as TaRL assessments and other sub-programs related data

⦁ Facilitate communications to the office through the agreed communication channels

⦁ Facilitate student-mentor meetings and report to the main office on action items related to office support

⦁ Ensure the student-mentors fill and file the required paperwork such as self-reflection forms and related paperwork.

⦁ Facilitate the problem solving approaches with the student-mentors and come up with informed solutions to improve program operations

⦁ Schedule appointments meetings with the school leadership and the office to facilitate collaborative relationships

⦁ Coordinate day to day the student-mentors attendances and reports to the main office

Sports Development:

⦁ Lead student-mentors in planning and implementing sports practice

⦁ Work with student-mentors to form and plan sport leagues

⦁ Work with the allocated Head of School/ Sport Teacher or the Teacher on Duty (ToD) to ensure students’ participation in coaching and games

⦁ Attend scheduled training for Sports Development with our partnered primary schools at Orkeeswa School or beyond.


Life Skills Education:

⦁ Facilitate Life Skills logistics in allocated primary school

⦁ Coach student-mentors in facilitating Life Skills sessions

⦁ Support Outreach coordinator with session feedback for continuous improvement of curriculum

⦁ Attend scheduled trainings for Life Skills Education at Orkeeswa School or beyond

⦁ Facilitate Life Skills sessions in allocated primary school


Extracurricular:

⦁ Oversee student-mentor’s implementation of extracurricular programs (Debate and Drama or other designed extracurricular programs)

⦁ Support training sessions for student mentors

⦁ Attend scheduled trainings for Extracurriculars at Orkeeswa School or beyond

⦁ Facilitate Extracurriculars in allocated primary school


Academic Support (Teaching at the Right Level):

⦁ Plan and facilitate TaRL sessions aimed at building foundational literacy and numeracy skills in students grades 3-5

⦁ Support TaRL training for student-mentors

⦁ In collaboration with Program Coordinator, manage and request resources for TARL

⦁ Attend scheduled trainings for TARL at Orkeeswa School or beyond

Leadership

⦁ Prepare timely reports and documentation on the sub-programs for M&E input

⦁ Demonstrate leadership through communication, facilitation and conflict management skills

⦁ Support student-mentors to develop critical leadership skills

⦁ Develop strategies for working in challenging environments with limited resources

⦁ Manage program resources and organize program logistics

⦁ Facilitate student-Mentors projects in primary schools



Requirements

⦁ Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or a related field

⦁ Experience with counseling and life skills education is highly valued

⦁ Strong interpersonal and communication skills

⦁ Be able to prioritize tasks.

⦁ Experience working with youth in remote rural areas in Tanzania. This post will be predominantly based in field locations, with regular periods at Orkeeswa School office for planning and administrative purposes.
